Charles W. Johnson (Bud) passed away Monday, February 1, 2010 after a long and courageous 7-year fight against cancer. He was 74 years old. Bud received his undergraduate degree from DePauw University where he was a Delta Tau Delta and his MBA from Indiana University Graduate School of Business in 1959. He spent his professional career in packaged goods and the frozen seafood industry, and was the founder of Cast-a-Net Seafood. Bud also served on a number of Boards for various food companies and non-profit health-related companies. Bud was preceded in death by his father, Warren E. Johnson; mother, Kathryn C. Johnson; sister, Mary K. Johnson; and aunt, Margaret E. Black. Bud is survived by his wife Shirley Johnson of Tampa and his children – Cammarie Johnson, husband Charles Burlile; Kathryn Johnson, husband Shane Wedge; and Margaret Johnson, husband Matt Fraidin; and his stepdaughter, Debi Oppenheim, husband Steve Oppenheim. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Lindsey, Ryan, Kate, Max, Taylor, Morgan, Maya and Evan, his dog Abby, and many, many special friends. Bud was loved by many and will be remembered for his sincerity, kindness, laughter and for his love of family and friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 6 at Serenity Meadows in Riverview, Florida at 2 PM.
